The men's 4 x 100m relay topped the competitive field for B-CU at the USF Bulls Invite

TAMPA, Fla. - The Wildcat men's team set off the weekend of competition for Bethune-Cookman, heading to the USF Bulls Invitational to compete against regional competition. The Wildcats put in heavy entries in the field events, but came away with the greatest success in the sprints and relays. In total, the Wildcat men return to Daytona Beach with eleven top finishes on the day.

Leading the team's performances, the 4 x 100m relay (composed of Chris Jackson, Eric Cray, Chris Herring, and Martin Embry) turned in a second-place finish, crossing the finish line at 41.29 seconds.

The top individual performance for the Wildcats came in the 100m dash, as Eric Cray finished fourth with a time of 10.63 seconds. Also competing in the 100m, Chris Jackson crossed in thirteenth in 10.98.

Topping the Bethune-Cookman field event performances, Kenson Nicholas leaped 13.41m (44-00.00 ft.) in the triple jump to finish fourth. Nicholas also performed well in the long jump, jumping 6.57m (21-10.75 ft.) to finish sixth. Also in the long jump, Johnareus Young came in just inches short at seventh with a distance of 6.56m (21-06.25), ahead of Martin Embry at eighth (6.35m/20-10.00 ft.) and Richard Carter at eleventh (6.08m/19-11.50 ft.).


 

 

With two teams running in the relay, the Wildcats placed in the 4 x 400m relay, with B-CU's team 'B' (made up of Eric Cray, Marcell Keeling, William Cosby, and Chris Herring) finishing seventh in a time of 3:25.75. Meanwhile, team 'A' (of Martin Embry, Chris Jackson, Devon Creary, and Robert Horton) finished tenth at 3:42.67.

In the 110m hurdles, Martin Embry finished seventh in a time of 15.84. Also in the 110 hurdles, Richard Carter finished eleventh in a time of 19.70 seconds.

In the 800m run, topping the middle-distance runners, Marcell Keeling finished eleventh with a time of 1:58.20.

Chris Jackson finished eleventh in the 200m dash with a time of 21.96 seconds, rounding out B-CU's upper tier of performances on the day.

The Wildcat men return to competition with the women's team March 26-27, at the UCF Knights Invitational, in Orlando, Fla. Meanwhile, the Wildcat women head to Orlando a week early, competing in the UCF Quad on Saturday.
