JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman's Kevin Rono broke up North Florida domination of the men's Jacksonville University Short Course Duals Friday with a sixth-place finish in the men's race. Rono clocked a two-mile time of 16:42.27 and was the lone outsider in a top eight that included seven UNF runners. UNF would sweep the dual meet format with a 4-0 mark against Savannah State (3-1), Stetson (2-2), B-CU (1-3) and Jacksonville (0-4). B-CU's victory was a 26-29 decision over Jacksonville. The Wildcats fell to Savannah State (20-42), Stetson (24-34) while UNF claimed the equivalent of a shutout (15-48). Other B-CU finishers include Curtis Riggins (20th, 18:38.67); Shephon Pamilton (29th, 20:03.54); Tavarres Harris (30th, 20:37.25), La'quan Howard (32nd, 21:20.24); Eric Cray (37th, 22:39.18) and Robert Horton (38th, 22:42.30). UNF also dominated the women's race, taking the top five spots than Jacksonville the next four. UNF went undefeated, followed by Jacksonville (3-1), Stetson (2-2), Savannah State and B-CU (0-4). Freshman Ileis Figueroa led B-CU with a 15th place finish in 14:24.01. Other B-CU times included: Alexis Lewis (25th, 15:45.01); Santaneshia Battle (34th, 17:55.80); Tanekia Flowers (35th, 18:00.24); Lashondra Wilbon (37th, 18:16.00) and Yolanda Rumph (38th, 20:24.00)
