After delaying today's start at the MEAC Baseball Championships, the weather acted up again late in Bethune-Cookman's game versus Coppin State. The game initially was delayed for a lightning warning, but the skies opened up into a downpour for 45 minutes, causing some flooding at the field. As of this time, officials from the MEAC Office have determined that play can resume at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening. The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman are looking to extend their historic run of conference titles, working to take the count to seven straight as the MEAC Baseball Championships open Friday at Norfolk State's Marty L. Miller field. However, due to heavy rains that swept through the area on Tuesday and early Wednesday, the games will be off schedule, opening with a three-hour delayed start. The Arecibo, Puerto Rico native, Gonzalez recorded a 2.16 ERA and was second in the conference with eight wins (8-1). In 13 appearances, the B-CU senior was also second in the MEAC with 72 strikeouts. In total, Gonzalez pitched 79.1 innings, allowing 24 runs, 19 earned runs and 17 walks, only surrendering seven total extra-base hits, with opponents batting .235 against him.
