Taking on his seventh season, in the first year with the new staff, after joining the Wildcats' Sports Medicine staff prior to the start of the 2006 campaign, he has become a fixture of the program in recent years. Jim was born and raised in the sports-crazy New England area, giving him a great appreciation for the sport of baseball, which is his primary responsibility on the Sports Medicine staff, working alongside a team of interdisciplinary athletic trainers, massage therapists and chiropractors, while also providing a supporting role on men's and women's golf.

Castle is a 1993 graduate of Salem State College in Salem, Mass., located 21 miles north of Boston. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in athletic training and it was with the Salem State Vikings where he found his true calling in athletic training. Castle was mentored by the late and great trainer, Bill Bulloch, who fostered in Castle the will to not only lead but to serve.

In his more than 15 years in the sports training field, he has worked with three different professional sports teams (Milwaukee Brewers minor league affiliate, the Bay State Titans baseball club, and the New Jersey Imperials professional soccer franchise).

Jim was recruited to B-CU, from the beautiful state of Maine, for his rehabilitation and biomechanical skills, where he was serving Healthsouth Rehabilitation Corp in Portland as the Sports Medicine Coordinator. He was a frequent lecturer on the biomechanics of the overhead-throwing athlete. He developed several rehabilitation protocols that are now utilized at B-CU by the Wildcats.

He has remained active on both state and national committees responsible for current training issues in athletics. Time permitting away from the diamond and training room, Jim likes to snow ski and surf with his family. He lives in Edgewater with his wife, Sarah, and their two daughters, Katie and Ashley.
