The 2010 B-CU Baseball Invitational gets underway Friday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark with the Bethune-Cookman-Wagner matchup at 2:30 and Virginia Commonwealth vs. B-CU at 6 p.m. in a day/night doubleheader for the Wildcats.
Coach Mervyl Melendez Post Game Quotes Following Wagner Win:
"Tonight's game we swung the bats very well at the beginning of the ball game and that takes a little bit of pressure off the pitcher. Roman (Lancara) did an outstanding job on the mound. He fed off the offense and he threw a lot of strikes. He took command of the game and the outcome of the game is going to be positive every time you do that." Coach Melendez said.
"Freshman reliever Jordan Daily has come in a lot of big situations and it is good to come in a non pressure situation. And you saw what he was able to do (struck out the side in the ninth inning) and we think very highly of him. We think the future will be bright for Jordan."
"The BCU Invitational will be a good test for us against Wagner and VCU. Our game plan is pretty much the same (as tonight) and we have to play good defense. I don't think we made an error today and that's really the key of the ball game. We have to throw strikes and if we throw strikes and if we play good defense, I'll like our chances for this weekend."
