2010 Wildcats Shoot For Fifth Consecutive MEAC Baseball Crown

Bethune-Cookman University President Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed was the honored guest Wednesday night with the 2009 Wildcat baseball team having its MEAC championship ring ceremony.  Members of the championship team and the current 2010 team were in attendance along with B-CU staff and families.

"It is a special night for us and to have President Reed there to receive her ring is special to us for her support of our baseball program," said B-CU Head Coach Mervyl Melendez.

"It gives the new players a taste of what they are working towards and what we have accomplished winning MEAC championships (9 out of 10 seasons). I am very proud of the players from last season and thank them for all their hard work reaching the NCAA regionals and playing two outstanding games in Gainesville," said Melendez.

B-CU opens its 2010 season in California February 19-21 competing for the third straight year in the Major League Baseball sponsored Urban Classic in Compton, CA. "We are working hard and will be embarking on an exciting season ahead in 2010," Coach Melendez said.
