Virginia Beach, Va. - Bethune-Cookman University senior guard/forward Jimmy Hudson has been named as this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men's basketball Co-Player of the Week as released by the conference office in Virginia Beach, Va.

After suffering a high ankle sprain just over three weeks ago, things looked bleak for the sharp-shooting senior from nearby Eustis, Fla. Hudson, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound swing guard/forward, quickly bounced back from his injury. He missed just three games for the Wildcats, and then assisted them in a big non-conference win over the weekend.

In a 60-56 win over Georgia State in Atlanta, Hudson scored a season-high 22 points as he shot 7-for-10 from the field for a 70 percent shooting touch overall. He also connected on 3-of-6 shooting from three-point land while grabbing in a team-high tying six rebounds.

This was the first road win for the Wildcats all season long and the first non-conference road win for Bethune-Cookman University since a 74-62 win over Savannah State back on Jan. 11, 2006 in Savannah, Ga.

This is the first Player of the Week award for Hudson this year. He currently sits in second place on the squad in the scoring average category with 13.9 points per contest. He is also averaging 3.9 rebounds per game.

Alongside Hudson as the Co-Player of the Week this week is last week's Player of the Week award winner Rashad West of Hampton University. The hot-shooting, lightning-quick senior guard led the Pirates to a 70-63 win over local rival William & Mary last week. He scored 29 points for the Pirates, as well as hitting 8-of-13 shots from the field (3-of-6 three-pointers).

This week's Rookie of the Week award went to Hampton's Jordan Brooks, while Defensive Player of the Week honors went to Morgan State's Boubacar Coly. Coly had a double-digit rebounding effort in two games last week for the Bears against Denver and Niagara.
