Coach Jenkins On Chief of Staff Jeff Fagan: "Jeff handles the day to day operations of our football program and does a terrific job. He is well connected with everybody at B-CU and is a very loyal individual who aims to please. He handles our travel and has his hands in many pots. This program could not operate with out him and I am happy to have him on our staff." Jeff Fagan begins his 18th season as a football coach/administration at his alma mater, as he starts 2010 in his second year as Chief of Staff and Football Operations Director under Head Coach Brian Jenkins. Previously, he was an assistant coach overseeing A-Backs under former coach Alvin Wyatt for 13 seasons, and three seasons as an assistant in the second stint of Jack "Cy" McClairen. During his playing days, Fagan was a former All-State player in high school, and stellar athlete at Bethune-Cookman College. Fagan's coaching career, however, began like so many on the high school circuit. From 1988-89, Jeff Fagan was an assistant coach with Seabreeze High School in the Daytona Beach area. He later worked his way over to local powerhouse Mainland High School where he served under head coach Doug Stanley and the Buccaneers program from 1990-94. While at Seabreeze and Mainland, Fagan was instrumental in helping the two dominant local programs to four District titles, two Regional titles and one Central Florida Bowl Championship crown. As a 1981 graduate of Bethune-Cookman College, Fagan believes in the one thing that every successful coach lives with every second of the game, "Calling the right play and making the right block is all that is needed for a drive to be successful." He has instilled in every one of his former A-Backs that a total commitment is needed to produce excellence on and off the field. Fagan brings the same approach from his coaching philosophy to helping the program to operate at the highest efficiency, aiding first-year Head Coach Brian Jenkins in 2010 in producing the best season in program history. While at B-CC in his playing days, Fagan saw his action as an offensive lineman for the Wildcats from 1978-79. He later earned a degree in Physical Education. Prior to that, Fagan was a standout offensive lineman at Killian High School in his hometown of Miami, Florida. Fagan began his Bethune-Cookman coaching career in the spring of 1994 as a football administrator, and he stills holds the day-to-day duties of the office in his current tenure at the school. Fagan's responsibilities not only include coaching the offensive line, but assisting with scheduling and arranging travel and practices while on the road. Currently he is single, and has three children, Jahmal (25), Emerson (22) and Cyrus (12). He lives in Daytona Beach. |
