Coach Brian Jenkins On Ryan Griffin: "A very strong spiritually and dedicated individual. He is in charge of player personnel both on and off the field. He wants to serve his alma mater and the football program. Will help players with personal problems, family problems, and be there day to day for them."
Miami native Ryan Griffin enters his second season as the Bethune-Cookman Director of Player Personnel after joining Brian Jenkins' staff in 2010, fresh off a playing career for B-CU. A former four-year offensive line standout for the Wildcats, Griffin was team captain his senior year in 2009 and also team captain in 2008. He was an All-MEAC and All-America candidate in both 2008 and 2009, and received the prestigious scholar athletic award in 2008 and the Army Strong Award in 2009. He was also selected to the Commissioners' All-Academic honor squads in 2008 and 2009. While at B-CU, he earned History Department (his Major) Outstanding Accomplishment Award in 2009. Ryan served as President of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and was on the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee). He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and served as Chaplin for the Delta Beta chapter. Griffin says his greatest work is in the ministry and he was licensed to preach the Gospel on April 12, 2009. He serves as the worship and praise leader at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church of Daytona Beach, Florida. Griffin played three seasons of football for Head Coach Chris Merritt at Columbus High School in Miami, helping the Explorers to a22-8 record and three District Championships and was named the Offensive Lineman MVP in 2004. He was named honorable mention All-Dade County squad during his time with Columbus. |
