Written By Melanie Cheatham, B-CU Sports Information Student Intern Wildcats Beat Siena College 4-0, B-CU's First Dual Match Win of 2010 Season Updated B-CU team/individual stats (1-3 dual match record) Daytona Beach, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman men's tennis team fought to obtain four of six singles matches for the 4-0 victory over visiting Siena College in a rescheduled match at City Island Tennis Center, Monday afternoon. The remainder of the singles matches were incomplete due to the inclement weather. The Wildcats jumped out with a 1-0 lead, when freshman Kip Jackson defeated Siena College opponent Rob Cooperman 6-4, 6-0 at number five singles. The Wildcat wins continued after Cristian Cruz, senior, earning a victory at the No. 4 position against Jay Godbole of Siena College 6-1,6-2. Yannick Jackson, Miami native, beat Dylan Roberts 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 position. Following Jackson was a victory from sophomore wildcat Greg Streat. He handled SC opponent Jarrett Siwiec 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2.
Before the match was called due to the weather, Emil Vassilev kept the Wildcat's advantage rolling in singles play with the 6-2, 4-1 score against Mike Amico at No. 1. Kristopher Martin at No. 6 was up against Nik Godbole, 7-5, 5-1 before the rains came.
The Wildcat men's and women's teams will next be in competition on Wednesday, Feb. 24 against Jacksonville University in Jacksonville.
