Men’s Tennis Opens Spring Season against Stetson Hatters

The Bethune-Cookman men’s tennis team will open its spring season in Deland, Florida at Stetson University on Tuesday, January 26, 2010.

“We know that when we go to Stetson, or they come here we are in for a big knockdown, drag out. For the past few seasons Stetson’s men’s program has been ranked top fifty in the NCAA Division I ranks. We’re excited, we’ll get a little dose of reality, but we’ll find out on how well we’re playing. The guys are excited, I’m excited, we’ve been working hard and hope that it’s going to translate into some good positive stuff that’s going to come about at Stetson, ” Head Coach Trey Bogue said.

The Wildcats are returning the fall season’s entire lineup on the 2010 team. The men’s team has been training hard and preparing for another successful season led by head coach and graduate assistant coach .Thabani SitholeTrey Bogue

Bogue is in his ninth season at Bethune-Cookman University and won his milestone 200th college career match last season. He was named Women’s MEAC Coach of the Year and MEAC Men’s Co-Coach of the Year in 2009.

The Wildcats will look in the direction of seniors and captains Cristian Cruz and Yannick Jackson for leadership this season. Both Cruz and Jackson have been a part of the B-CU tennis team since their freshman season in the fall of 2006.

“Cristian and Yannick are always very competitive and they always give 110 percent,” comments Bogue.

After the men’s Stetson match, the B-CU tennis program will turn its attention back to the Lady Wildcats who take on the Owls of Florida Atlantic University on Friday, January 29, in Daytona Beach, at City Island Tennis Center.
