Men's Tennis Team Goes 3-1 In MEAC Matches Over Spring Break Written By Melanie Cheatham, B-CU Sports Information Office, Student Intern Sumter, SC- Over Spring Break (March 1-7), the BCU tennis teams traveled to Sumter, South Carolina in hopes of sweeping the tournament and beating all MEAC foes. The men's team was 3-1 losing only to the Pirates of Hampton University with a final match score of 4-3. However, that loss did not drop the spirits of the Wildcats. BCU men's team defeated Norfolk State University 5-2, Winston- Salem State 6-1, and University of Maryland Eastern Shore, 7-0. The lady Wildcat tennis team also handled business at the MEAC roundup, with the ladies going an undefeated 5-0 in the tournament. The lady Wildcats were victorious over North Carolina A & T, Norfolk State University, Winston-Salem State University, Savannah State University and Hampton University. The B-CU tennis teams are cruising their way to the championships in April. However, they are still working hard and staying focused all in efforts to become the MEAC champions.
Both Wildcat teams will continue competition this weekend. The men's team will compete on Saturday, March 13, against Northern Illinois University in Daytona Beach at City Island Tennis Center. The Lady Wildcats will travel to Statesboro, Georgia to compete on Sunday against Georgia Southern University. Continue to follow the Wildcats' season at www.B-CUathletics.com.
