DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Bethune-Cookman softball program typically walks in the American Cancer Society's 'Making Strides Against Breast Cancer' event annually, but this year they will have some help in raising money for the cure. Members from the men's and women's basketball, and tennis teams will join them in the cause this Saturday, October 23rd, beginning at Riverfront Park in Daytona Beach. In 2009, 90,000 people in Florida participated in the event, rasing nearly $6 Million in donations toward the cause of fighting against breast cancer in research for a cure. Through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, the ACS raises money to assist in the research of cancer cures, helping cancer patients stay well, aiding in the cost of treatment for those diagnosed with the disease, and helping to support legislation that will aid in the cause. For more information about the event, visit the main Volusia County site here.
