Tron Griffin returns in 2011-12 to Bethune-Cookman University for his first season as an assistant coach with the women's basketball program. Griffin was a four-year football letterman and one-year basketball letterman for the Wildcats and a member of the 2002 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship football team. He graduated from Bethune-Cookman in 2006. After graduation, Griffin returned to his high school alma mater, Mandarin HS in Jacksonville, where he coached football, boy's basketball and girl's weightlifting. At Union County HS, he was head coach of the girl's basketball team that went won a district championship in 2008-09 and was ranked as high as seventh in the state. He comes back to B-CU after a two-year stint at Florida State College at Jacksonville, where his focus was on post player development and strength and conditioning.
