DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - There is a new steals leader in the Bethune-Cookman history books, but Demetria Frank is not wrapping up her career just yet. Frank has been a force on the defensive side of the ball her entire career for the Lady Wildcats, starting as a freshman at guard, and wrapping up last season in second for all NCAA Division I players. At the South Carolina State, January 30, at Moore Gymnasium, Frank extended her career steals total to 251, breaking the record previously held by Erma Jones. Jones initially set the record at 249 in the 1983-1984 season.

Frank has a long way to go before she sets her final steals count in the book, with a minimum of ten games remaining this year, in addition to her entire senior year. Since breaking the record, Frank has already extended the count to 255, with the addition of her four against Winston-Salem State. Nationally, Demetria is ranked 15th among all NCAA Division I leaders in steals per game.

Although Frank has shown herself to be a defensive star for the Lady Wildcats, her role as B-CU's utility player has made a major impact in this extremely successful season, shaping up to be the best in the last six years. In addition to her notable steals count, Demetria also leads the Lady Wildcats in scoring and free throw shooting, while ranking second in rebounds.

The Lady Wildcats are currently on the road and looking to extend a three-game win streak as they face off with first Coppin State on Friday, followed by Morgan State on Monday, both in Baltimore, Md.
