READING, Penn. – The Lady Wildcats are proving that they believe in the old adage that ‘to be the best, you have to play the best’, heading out in consecutive weeks against some of the nation’s best, taking on the KU Golden Bear Invitational this Friday through Sunday. Much like the talent in last week’s Big Red Invitational, B-CU will take on a field which includes 13 of the NCAA’s top 20 teams; three of the top five.

Heading to the nation’s largest NCAA bowling tournament, with 28 teams hosted by #15 Kutztown, that fact doesn’t faze Head Coach Tony O’Neal or his Lady Wildcats.

“I expect to go in and be very competitive,” said O’Neal. “The young ladies have improved to a point that we’ve got a legitimate shot of winning this tournament. I’m so confident because we’re getting better and learning how to win the close games. We’re learning to bowl at our expectations, not at the level of the competition.”

The Lady Wildcats opened up the 2012 portion of the schedule with notable improvement, hitting season high team averages at last week’s Big Red Invitational in Lincoln, Nebr., then bowling against seven top 20 teams.

“Mentally, we’re becoming better, and understanding the dynamics of reading the lanes faster, and paying attention to ourselves and the other teams,” O’Neal noted.

A similar format to the past couple of tournaments, the KU Golden Bear Invitational will open with a set of six four-game Baker matches on Friday. Saturday’s play will feature six Individual Team Play matches, and Sunday will conclude in three best four-of-seven Baker matches.

“We feed off of each other during the tournaments,” said junior Lady Wildcat Ypretycia Crumity, “that essentially is one of the biggest things that has helped us. The other teams are not going to let up on us, or give it to us easily, so we’ve got to work hard and get the wins.”
