CHARLESTON, S.C. – Kimberly Wong finished the opening day tied for sixth to highlight Bethune-Cookman University’s performance at the CSU Wendy’s Invitational Monday. Wong fired a three-over par 75, three shots behind co-leaders Hannah Coles of Radford and Rumbidzai Masamvu of Appalachian State. Wong’s opening round was one of consistency, as she registered pars on 12 of 18 holes. Team-wise, the Wildcats finished the day in tenth place in the 13-team field with a score of 329, 25 strokes behind leader Bucknell and within six strokes of DePauw, Armstrong Atlantic and Savannah College of Art Design, who are in a three-way for seventh. Vanessa Adarme, who birdied three holes, is tied for 18th with a 79, followed by Marie Bergelin in 58th (87) and Maxine Gardner in 59th with an 88. The tournament concludes Tuesday.
