June 12, 2007 Daytona Beach, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman junior softball student-athlete Christina Trimble has recently been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team. Trimble was selected to the Second Team for this academic honor. Just a month after being named to the All-District [3] Team, Trimble has been named as the first Academic All-America student-athlete for the Wildcats in at least three years. She held a perfect 4.00 GPA (Grade Point Average) throughout the 2006-07 academic term, and is majoring in Elementary Education at B-CU. Trimble finished the year batting .406 at the plate--good enough for second place on the team in that category. She led the team in hits (73), was tied for second in RBI (45), third in homeruns (3) and fourth in doubles (10). She was voted to the team via Sports Information Directors throughout the country, as well as a regional panel following her selection to the District 3 First Team. Joining Trimble on the All-America Team was Samantha Snow of Delaware State. Snow was named to the Third Team for the University Division. No other student-athletes from the state of Florida were selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America squad in the University Division for softball. Lindsay Schutzler of the University of Tennessee was selected as the University Player of the Year after compiling a 3.88 GPA in Psychology. Laura Kot (Nazarene University) was the Player of the Year for the College Division with a perfect 4.00 GPA in Mathematics.
