2006 ... FRESHMEN SEASON: Led the team with 584 assist...Played in 68 games...Averaged 8.59 assists per game...Also chipped in with 15 service aces and 20 blocks...She also had 24 kills in 112 attacks...Contributed 49.5 points in the 2006 campaign...Had a career high in assists with 52 in a 5 game match vs. Stetson University (Sept. 19)... She also set a career in digs with 15 against (Oct. 15). HIGH SCHOOL: Chow played her high school volleyball for Lindsay Thurber High School under head coaches Young and Dezutter ... Helped her squad in earning back-to-back League titles and second in the Province in 2004 and 2005 ... Selected as an All-Star in the 2006 Tournament, as well as collecting MVP awards ... Earned her International Baccalaureate Diploma ... Also lettered in basketball and badminton ... Also played beach volleyball and helped her team in collecting the Provincial championship all four years of high school (2003-06) for the Pirates program. PERSONAL: Kumiko Chow is the daughter of Hatsue and Stanley Chow ... Chose to attend Bethune-Cookman College because she wanted to improve her volleyball ability and help her team at a great institution ... Says her favorite television shows are Futurama and Smallville ... Lists her favorite foods as sushi and any type of Japanese dish ... Lists her career goals as being an athletic therapist for her own team and opening a physiotherapy building ... Credits her mother as the biggest athletic influence in her life because Kumiko has always wanted to be as good as she was, and her mother was the one that taught her about the physical and mental aspects of sports. |
