THIS SEASON: Ariane Guy made her presence felt just six matches into the season as the team's "new found" starter at the setter position ... While not being her primary position at the beginning of the year, slated as a defensive specialist, Guy jumped right in and led the squad in assists for the season ... Should be counted on as the starting libero/defensive specialist for the `Cats this season ... A scrappy player that doesn't hesitate even for a second to get low for a dig or set-up the pass from almost anywhere on the court. JUNIOR SEASON: Started in 25-of-32 matches for the Wildcats last season in 113 games played throughout the campaign ... Moved from the defensive specialist/libero position at the start of the year to the setter spot after just six matches into the season ... Led the squad in assists with 824 under her belt ... Averaged 7.29 assists per game ... Fifth on the squad in service aces (26) ... Ended the year fourth on the squad in digs with 273 ... Averaged right at 2.42 digs per game ... Fourth on the team with 35 blocks, including 31 assisted blocks ... Collected 75.5 points on the campaign ... Had a season-high four kills against Troy (Sept. 16) in the Hampton Inn Troy Invitational ... Posted a career-high 60 assists at Savannah State (Oct. 2) ... Posted a season-high 17 digs against Coppin State (Oct. 16) in the MEAC Round-Up in Princess Anne, Md. SOPHOMORE SEASON: Played in 26 games throughout 15 matches, including her first collegiate start, last season under first-year head coach Vanessa Cogswell ... Posted three kills in more of a defensive position for the Lady Wildcats ... Set-up five assists from the back row for teammate kills ... Served up four (4) service aces throughout the season ... Got low for 24 defensive digs ... Posted an average of 0.92 digs per game in limited action ... Posted 7.5 total points on the campaign, which included one block assist. FRESHMAN SEASON: Earned valuable playing time in limited action in 46 games in just her first season of collegiate volleyball ... Ariane finished the season with 73 digs ... Punched up four service aces and 2 kills on the season. PREP: Named as the team's Most Valuable Player in both the 2001 and '02 season ... Named as an All-Region Division II (2001) Team member ... Also selected as an All-District Division II (2002) Team member ... Also ran track and played basketball ... Helped her track squad in capturing the Regional State Championship. PERSONAL: Ariane was born on April 12, 1985 in Nashville, Tennessee ... She is the daughter of Kenneth Guy and Alicia Thompson ... She wants to one day work in the medical field ... Says an interesting job of hers was working at a restaurant ... Volunteered her summer time at the Edgehill Community Center, as well as the Vanderbilt Rehab Center ... Says she came to B-CC because it was a smaller HBCU in the state of Florida. |
